"Signs Your Liver Health Needs a Reboot and How to Rejuvenate It"

Lower abdominal discomfort due to a faltering liver.

Have you been feeling stopped up? You know what I'm talking about - bloated and tight gut with gassy bubble pains and constipation?

How about emotionally? Do you feel stagnated by feelings of tension, anger, or depression?

If you're experiencing these issues, keep reading this post since it is highly likely that your liver needs a reboot. For the next few minutes, I will briefly discuss the physical and spiritual energetic attributes of the liver organ, various physical signs that warn you of a faltering liver, and share a couple of herbal remedies you can use to quickly rejuvenate your liver.

WHAT IS THE LIVER AND ITS PURPOSE?

The liver is a very bodily organ that is responsible for regulating blood chemical levels as well as detoxifying the body with a substance called bile. Bile breaks down consumed fats into fatty acids so the body can digest food; and, it helps to carry waste away from the body. When functioning appropriately, the liver supports metabolism, immunity, digestion, detoxification, and storing vitamins.

Energetically speaking, the liver organ is the place where our soul dwells. Through its task of blood regulation (also known as "life regulation"), the liver ensures that our Qi-energy (also known as moral energy) flows freely and evenly throughout the body.

When your liver starts glitching, there are physical warning signs.

These signs include:

  • Pain or swelling in the upper right of your abdomen.

  • Loss of appetite.

  • Unexplained weight loss.

  • Fatigue.

  • Nausea or vomiting.

  • Excessive sweating.

  • Increased body odor and bad breath.

  • Skin disorders, such as rashes, dry, itchy, and discolored skin.

Nevertheless, a faltering liver affects your emotional health since the Qi-energy is unable to flow properly thus becoming stagnant. Stagnant Qi-energy causes nervous tension, frustration, repressed anger, and depression.

If you are experiencing early warning signs of liver damage, there is great news - THE LIVER IS A REPAIRABLE ORGAN!

Dandelion (taraxacum officinale) is a completely edible herb that many find in their backyard. Its leaves and roots can be consumed cooked or eaten raw. Some use the herb to garnish salads, make wine, or even create herbal beers. The entire plant greatly benefits the body because it is high in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. To rejuvenate the liver, enjoy the benefits of the dried root with an herbal tea. If you find that the taste is too bitter for your preference, I have a better tasting tea blended with ginseng, burdock root, dandelion root, and schizandra berries that you may enjoy.

To physically REBOOT your liver health, or for general health purposes, do a liver cleanse every 6 months for 2 weeks.

Here's the Dandelion Tea recipe I follow:

Pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1/2 to 2 tsp of roasted dandelion root. Let it steep for 20 minutes. Strain the herbs and drink. Drink 3 cups per day.

CAUTION: Do not add honey, sugar, or any sweeteners to the brew as it may reduce the herb's effectiveness.

In addition to drinking tea, aromatherapy assists Qi-energy flow and balance. There are several essential oils that assist with harmonizing the liver functioning such as bergamot, chamomile, grapefruit, and sweet orange. However, Bulgarian Lavender is the essential oil I prefer due to its prominent nerve relaxing abilities. For this psycho-therapeutic purpose, a nice warm bath soak or aerial dispersion works wonders.

To prepare a nice lavender bath, simply add 4-6 drops (16 years and older) of pure steam distilled lavender oil to very warm bath water. Vigorously stir the drops to ensure full and safe dispersal. Soak in the bath for up to 30 minutes.

For aerial dispersion or vaporization, add 5-20 drops of the oil to your essential oil diffuser or to burner containing water.

The liver is a crucial organ that our body needs to help regulate blood aka life energy. When it falters, physical and emotional discomforts arise. If you're experiencing early warning signs of a damaged liver, don't fret, the liver is a repairable organ. Dandelion root herbal tea consumed for 2 weeks every 6 months can help to keep your liver functioning properly. In addition, aromatherapy with the use of pure lavender essential oil helps to calm and relax tension associated with the organ's energetic flow.

Peace, Balance, and Blessings,

Wynter Michelle
