🥶 Feeling Emotionally Cold (Even in the Texas Heat)? Time for a Holistic Reset

Black woman sitting alone on a park bench in the summer heat, looking thoughtful and contemplative, surrounded by greenery under bright sunlight.
In the heat of June, sometimes the world feels heavy and we find ourselves sitting quietly, carrying the weight of responsibilities and emotions that cool our inner flame. But even in stillness, there is hope — a gentle invitation to rekindle warmth and light within.

Hey Beautiful Soul,

It’s June already! And while that might mean sunshine, vacations, and freedom for the kids, let’s keep it 💯... for many of us adults, summer feels like a whole other kind of marathon. The bills go up — more groceries, more electricity, more everything. The schedule changes, but somehow the workload doesn’t lessen. And if you’re the planner, the caretaker, and the “make-sure-everyone’s-happy” person, even your vacations feel like another job.

I completely understand. In fact, I have been working, and re-working, my schedule to see how I am going to fit everything in. And then I remember I need time for writing, self-care, and oh, and the hubby.😮‍💨 Whew Chile!

As you think about your responsibilities, do you feel what I feel? That flicker of energy and excitement quietly smoldering out? Just like that, the gentle flame inside—the one that fuels our creativity, passion, and compassion—starts to dim under the weight of emotional overwhelm. And if we’re not careful, we stop noticing that it’s even happening.

  • We go from feeling deeply to just getting through the day.

  • We go from warm hugs and big laughs to short replies and long sighs.

  • We go from dreaming and praying to numbing and avoiding.

And then suddenly, our emotions become cold as ice.

Our joy feels distant.

And our motivation slips into survival mode.

But I come with good news: that flame can be reignited.

💡 Before you become the Ice Queen, Let's Discuss Warning Signs to Identify if Your Flame is Fading.

Here’s what emotional coldness might look like in your life:

  1. You feel numb instead of inspired.

  2. You’re quick to anger or become easily irritated... but you don’t know why.

  3. You can’t remember the last time you felt deeply excited about something.

  4. You’re tired but restless. You want to do everything and nothing.

  5. You’re losing interest in things you used to love.

  6. You start disconnecting—from people, from yourself, from God.

If any of this feels like you right now, please hear this: You Are Not Broken.

You are just tired. And tiredness is not a curse—it’s a signal. A sacred invitation to come back to warmth, to rekindling, to tending your inner fire with love.

🍵 3 Herbs to Gently Rekindle Your Warmth (Tea Style)

Let’s talk tea. Brewing herbal tea is a sacred routine — it’s slow, intentional, and healing. And though we steep these herbs in hot water, many of them make refreshing iced infusions for the brutal Texas heat.

Here are three gentle-yet-powerful herbs to help reignite emotional and physical warmth:

1. Tulsi (Holy Basil)

Known as the herb of devotion and balance. Tulsi warms the spirit, uplifts mood, and helps the body manage stress. Emotionally, it soothes spiritual fatigue.

Flavor tip: Add fresh pineapple or orange slices for brightness.

2. Ginger Root (Dried or Fresh)

A true firestarter. Ginger wakes up the digestion and circulation and helps you reconnect with your center. It restores warmth where emotional chill has settled.

Flavor tip: Brew with a cinnamon stick and cool it down with frozen peach slices.

3. Rosemary

Rosemary is a beautifully warming and stimulating herb that supports mental clarity and circulation. It helps awaken the senses and gently revives the spirit when emotions feel cold or stagnant.

Flavor tip: Brew rosemary tea and chill it, then add fresh lemon slices and a sprig of mint for a refreshing iced infusion perfect for hot Texas days.

💧 Iced Herbal Tea Brewing Tips

  • Steep 1 tbsp of loose herbs in 8–10 oz hot water for 10–15 minutes.

  • Strain and chill in the fridge or pour over ice.

  • Add fruit, herbs (like mint or basil), or a touch of honey to enhance flavor and nourish your senses.

Remember, this is your moment. Your time to not just “get through June,” but to reclaim it. Every time you brew a cup, let it be a reminder: you are tending to your flame.

🙏 I'd like to Pray with you for Your Flame🕯️

Heavenly Father,

In this season of sun and pressure, I pray for every heart that feels cold, weary, or burnt out. Remind them that Your fire never goes out. Stir up the embers inside of them, the purpose they’ve tucked away. Wrap them in Your warmth. And teach them how to care for their light again.

Give us strength.

Give us softness.

Help us keep the flame lit — with You, through You, in love.

In Jesus' name.

Amen.

As we step into this new month, remember: you are not alone on this journey. Together, we will use the precious tools God has lovingly placed in our hands—herbs, oils, mineral rich salts, and prayers along with His unfailing grace to keep our flames burning bright.

This isn’t just about survival; it’s about walking a sacred path of self-healing, rediscovering the warmth within, and nurturing the light that fuels our creativity, compassion, and joy.

No matter how cold or overwhelmed you may feel right now, know that your flame is waiting to be rekindled—and I’ll be here to walk alongside you every step of the way.

Here’s to a month of reigniting, restoring, and shining boldly in His love.

With Fire & Frankincense,

Wynter Michelle
